Our story
Why we built it
Many used-car listings are shot on a phone, on a busy lot, in whatever light the day gives. Dealers rarely have time to edit hundreds of photos, and buyers pick which car to open from a thumbnail.
In June 2026 we analyzed 465 photos from 13 dealer listings on Dutch marketplaces and dealer sites. Dealers posted about 36 photos per car: 60% interior shots and only about 26% full exterior views. Those exterior shots are usually what buyers see first, so that is where a clean, consistent background matters most. It is a small sample; our car listing photo statistics show the method.
So we build for consistency across a whole inventory, not a flawless single photo.

Tamas Magda
Co-founder
Leads growth, partnerships and the commercial model. He works directly with dealers on how their inventory photos are shot, edited and published, and turns that feedback into product priorities. Before Car Background AI he spent more than 15 years in finance and technology across Asia-Pacific, at companies including GE Capital, PwC and Ooredoo, and was an entrepreneur in residence at Antler.

We are a small team, so feedback from dealers reaches the people who build the product. On Done-For-You orders, a person checks every image before it goes back to the dealer.
How it works
How it works, and what we change
Four steps, about 5 seconds per photo.
1. Upload
Upload car photos in the web app, one at a time or a full batch.
2. Choose a scene
Pick a ready-made studio, showroom or outdoor scene, or describe your own and save it as a custom background.
3. Generate
The AI regenerates the whole photo and builds the new scene around your car, with see-through windows, natural perspective, a realistic ground shadow and clean edges.
4. Download
Download listing-ready photos with the license plate blurred and, if you want, your dealership logo.
What changes and what does not. The background, the lighting around the car, the view through the windows and the ground shadow are new, and the plate is blurred. The car itself stays as you photographed it, with the same condition, color and details. As with any edit, check each photo before you publish it.
